This blog is implemented with WordPress. WordPress is a php blog system which appears to be fairly robust and has quite a following on the web right now. The latest version of WordPress stands at 2.3.2 which was released in December 2007. Version 2.5 is planned for March 2008.
In implementing this site I only needed to hack on part of the production code. All other changes were made in the construction of a new theme.
All in all I am very very happy with how this went together and expect to repeat it for clients that are asking for this type of solution.
