Dear Janet and everyone I have worked with at Dayspring (some of whose emails I don’t have),
I cannot begin to tell you the response we had to “To Vietnam With Love” and “Everyday Life” at Book Expo America (BEA) this weekend. BEA is the biggest book industry convention in America (possibly the world), and I am not exaggerating to say that TA Press was one of the highlights of the show.
Booksellers, librarians and most importantly, book distributors were actually gasping when they saw the books. They were calling over the presidents of their companies, and 2 of the biggest book distributors in the world (yes, world!) were asking to work with us. And the reason …
The beauty of the books. We heard over and over that our books are the most beautiful they had seen not only at the show but in years. People could not get over the quality and the sheer gorgeousness of the design. The show was a success for so many reasons, but I can fairly say that the main reason was all the work you have done at Dayspring, and Janet’s incredible talent–both for design and for putting up with me! At least a dozen people asked me, in total awe, “Who is your designer?”
(We also got countless compliments on our postcards, bookmarks and even book bags, which are based on your business card design—people were literally chasing us down to get their hands on one!)
I already raised a few glasses in toast to Janet and the Dayspring crew this weekend. I recommend everyone else do the same.
