DrupalCon SF 2010: Drupal Distributions

Jason and I attended a DrupalCon session on a Open Atrium, a drupal distribution for intranets and project management.  It’s basically Drupal-based app that competes with 37Signals’ Basecamp/Campfire/Backpack suite.  It’s an impressive product which made me think to look up some other Drupal distros that could be of interest.  Here’s some of what I’ve found that I want to document here:

Acquia – Base distro.  pulls together the more useful contributed modules.  We use this for one of our clients.

Open Atrium — Intranet, project management.  “Six features — a blog, a wiki, a calendar, a to do list, a shoutbox, and a dashboard to manage it all”

OpenPublish — Online publishing.  Used by The New Republic magazine.

Tattler — aggregates/tracks content from resources across the web.  (may be interesting for one of our clients)

Drupal Gardens — Not a distro, but SaaS similar to WordPress.com.  I think based on Drupal 7.  From the looks of it, Drupal 7 is shaping up to be more WordPress-like on the admin side
